The people we meet on vacation is a New Romantic comedy with a little spin of drama. The movie is based on two friends who take vacations yearly, but slowly they see that maybe it’s just more than a friendship; to make it better, they are long-term friends, and usually in most movies, we know how that goes.
The movie has a mix of romance, comedy, and some moments they may touch the viewers’ hearts. The movie surrounds Poppy and Alex. The two of them formed their friendship in such an odd way, but it works. Even though they aren’t alike as much, friendship connects.
They both agree to take trips yearly, slowly opening new doors. Overtime, we see how the dynamic of their friendship’s changes. The trips they take seem so fun and relaxed, almost like they’re on the trip as a couple, but they are just friends. But we slowly see how a little bit of hints here and there that it’s some romantic tension between the two friends.
They both have feelings for each other but won’t admit it because it could possibly ruin their friendship dynamic. Something happens on vacation where the friends stop speaking to one another for a decent amount of time. But this isn’t shown a lot, but you can tell that they are unhappy with this choice, but they seem to try to ignore it but can’t.
She ends up reaching out to him for the “final” vacation. During this final vacation, they end up acknowledging feelings from both sides and past feelings. This part highlights how important communication is. This move shows a heartfelt theme of how love can grow/change overtime.
