Giselle Galston, Opinion Editor
Hey! My name is Giselle M. Alicea Galston, and I am a 17-year-old senior at Lakewood High School. This year, I proudly carry the title of SNN’s Opinion Editor. My job is to take a deeper look into Lakewood’s students and let what they have to say about things – be heard. The opinion of Lakewood High School students is greatly appreciated, and I want my peers to know how much it matters, especially since I am very opinionated and self-aware as well. Hopefully I will soon be able to make a page on our website called “Gi’s Views”, aka the opinions students have about things going on at Lakewood- in my voice, posted on our website to make positive changes here at our school. Letters to the editor by other students at Lakewood will help me get a bigger picture on how students feel so I can then write about current issues or situations and use the opinions and columns of other students to draw awareness. I am very excited for this job. Journalism and writing have always been enjoyable for me, especially giving a voice to others and helping positive change take place. Aside from journalism, I love to volunteer at a local animal shelter when I have time and I also enjoy relaxing on the beach. Lakewood’s journalism program has helped me to find my voice and I hope to share that voice with my peers as much as I can because it certainly does matter.
