The week three game of the NFL season between the Baltimore Ravens and the Detroit Lions was one of the most memorable games so far. The Lions ultimately won with a score of 38–30 on the road.
From the beginning, the Lions set the tone by running the ball against Baltimore. Running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs were nearly impossible to bring down, as they combined for over 200 rushing yards and four total touchdowns.
The Lions used long drives to wear down the Ravens’ defense, and their offensive line gave their quarterback, Jared Goff, lots of time to make good throws, including a touchdown to star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
However, Lamar Jackson, the Ravens quarterback, did everything he could to keep the Ravens in the game. He threw for 288 passing yards and three total touchdowns, passing the ball to tight end Mark Andrews twice and hitting Rashod Bateman for another touchdown. Mark Andrews had a huge game with 91 receiving yards, but Baltimore’s run game was shut down almost completely.
The momentum shifted late in the game when star running back Derrick Henry fumbled the ball. The Lions capitalized on that mistake and turned it into points, which gave them a two-touchdown lead. However, the Ravens still fought back with another touchdown in the last minute, but they failed to get the two-point try and couldn’t recover the onside kick.
To conclude, the game showed the Lions’ strength and talent, while the Ravens’ weaknesses were exposed. Not enough protection for Lamar Jackson, an inconsistent running game, and most importantly, turnovers are their biggest weaknesses. For the Detroit Lions, it was a big road game win and their first ever on the road in Baltimore.
