Being picked in the Draft is such an amazing experience for athletes. Opening that gateway to more opportunities allowing yourself to grow and expand. And that’s what Paige Bueckers experienced.
Entering the new era of going to the Dallas Wings she explains how it’s going to take some getting used to. Paige says, “There is a lot of new in this organization, so to be part of something where we can build with each other and create a new sisterhood, we’re really excited.”
Despite the feeling of excitement Paige gives the advice to stay humble saying, “You don’t want to take anything for granted, or be entitled to anything, so you want to continue to stay motivated to work.” Also saying “So being the first pick or the last pick, it didn’t matter to me. But we’re here now. We’re in Dallas and super excited for the future.”
Leaving her final season at UConn behind she left a mark on that court. Averaging 19.7 points per game, shooting 52.8% from the field, 41.2% from 3, 88.5% from the free throw line, and had an average of 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds.
Paige is already getting along with the team and making strategic decisions on what she can do to help the team. Setting a good start to her new entering.
