After the thrilling competition between the teams only the top two teams will be able to advance to the Saturday’s Team final. Being one step closer to the ultimate crown. The teams securing their spot were Oklahoma with a score of 197.5500, Missouri with 197.300, UCLA with the score of 197.7375, and Utah being the highest of them all with a dominating score of 197.7625.
During the upcoming weekend on 4/19/25 only one team was able to take home the title of being a 2025 NCAA champion. Although all the teams put up a great fight the last one standing was Oklahoma with a winning score of 198.0125. Securing the trophy by just a couple of decimals!
This winning feeling was not always the best for Oklahoma though. During their semifinals from the past, they had three gymnast who suffered major landing errors. Putting them in fourth place at the start. Though this may have happened though they have thought of it as a learnable mistake and to find the motivation through it.
Head coach K.J Kindler even states she believed last year’s unfortunates would better themselves for this season. Also saying “We own what happened. It was a tough time to make a mistake, but it happened. Ignoring it would be silly because the rest of the country is not ignoring it, so we are not compartmentalizing it, we are using it to make us better.”
And that is exactly what the team did.
Not winning every match is expected. It just leaves room for improvement as K.J Kindler said. Athlete Jordan Bowers expresses that by earning three perfect 10.0 scores throughout out vault, bars, and floor. Contributing to their win in the Washington regional final.
Even though Oklahoma won the NCCA championship there are still many honorable mentions of athletes who also showed off their hard work. Jade Carey, a senior competing for Oregon State, is a three-time Olympic medalist, ranked No.1 in the nation in the all-around and on beam and has won the all-around title at every meet this season.
Overall, the 2025 NCAA gymnastics championships are always an exciting event to watch for the gymnastics fans. Suspense, the exactment is always something to look forward to. This year Oklahoma took home the victory but let’s see if they can keep that winning streak for next year.
