Ethan Glinsboeckel, a Freshman at Lakewood HS’s CAT program is a dedicated member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) with this being his 3rd year in the club. Ethan would go on to win 4th place in his product event.
This year’s state leadership conference was a hit success for the Lakewood HS’s chapter. As said before, they are back in business. With having 20 groups place in the top 5 and 12 of them qualify for nationals, they are on the right track!
The Lakewood HS FBLA chapter is known for being one of the strongest in the county and even in the state. They are a constant gold seal chapter and one of their advisors, Mr. Borg, is a state advisor helping behind the scenes. This means everyone is hard at work. Especially this year with the officers running around constantly completing tasks and holding meetings.
The officer team, being led by Sabina Memet, coordinated a lot of the state conference items for the chapter. With important things being roommate lists, bus assignments, and the food bags. The bags consisted of multiple breakfast and snack options for each room to get. They were put together in Mr. Borgs suite as soon as they got to the hotel. There were so many that a hardworking officer, Aurora Hunt shouted “How many are there?!” When seeing how many they had to complete.
While fun events, like the volleyball game, create amazing memories, the most notable one must be the awards ceremony. Luckily, Lakewood came successful. A takeaway from the excellence ceremony is the new idea of having people place on the national stage later in June.
These members are definitely hardworking. A 2 team in the product/presentation event, Graphic Design, said they worked extra hard this year. The thing about this event is the fact that this is a prejudged event, which means that they must submit their designs before the conference and that determines if they can present later on. Cat students Jorden Kerns and Vinni Ortega-Rodriguez did not just win second place, they won 150 dollars with it and a guaranteed spot at the national conference. Let’s say that all their hard work did pay off in the end.
Other outstanding awards for the Lakewood chapter include Lucas Hicks, Logan Moore, and Jayden Nguyen who won fourth place in the team event Financial Statement Analysis. Sabina Memet who was also our district president won third place in the complicated 3 step event Future Business Leader. Finally, a group entry for Local Chapter Annual Business Report won third place. We look forward to seeing all the hard work pay off at nationals this year in California!
