Students from Lakewood High School had the chance to visit one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, the Strawberry Festival, which is held in Plant City, Florida.

One of the main reasons people visit the festival is the food, particularly the many strawberry-themed foods they offer.

During my time at the festival, we got to try many different foods and sweets.

One of my favorite foods I tried was the noodles with teriyaki chicken from Island Noodles. The chicken had a juicy flavor, along with flavorful noodles, and not to mention the vegetables helped bring out the flavor as a whole. This item cost $13 which was pretty fair as the portion was a nice size.

After that, I tried some strawberry lemonade which was one of many strawberry-themed items.

The quality of the food and drink items at the festival was amazing and authentic. Unlike a lot of other places that use artificial flavors, I was able to taste the freshness of real strawberries along with lemon pieces in my lemonade. This item cost a total of $10 and came with a nice reusable strawberry cup.

Another popular item I had the chance to try was the strawberry shortcake from St. Clement’s Catholic Church. This was a nice experience as you get to walk through and make your own shortcake, topping on your own strawberries and whipped cream. This item cost $6 and was well worth it as you could put as many strawberries and whipped cream onto your shortcake as you wanted.

Along with the many sweets offered, I also enjoyed the fried cookie dough and red velvet Oreo’s. From the core of the cookie dough and Oreo’s to the outside of the batter everything was warm and sweet. This item definitely did not disappoint and came up to $9 for a total of four of them.

The last sweet I got to try was the glazed donut from Peachey’s Baking Company. This donut was nice and fluffy and simply does not compare to donuts you buy in stores. One donut cost $5 but they are relatively bigger in size compared to your average donut.

Overall, the strawberry festival had lots of great food and desserts this year. If I had to pick a favorite, I would go with the strawberry lemonade as it tasted different from all the other lemonades I’ve ever tasted. This is an annual event I recommend to anyone who enjoys eating different foods, as this is a place that provides an amazing and genuine food experience.
