During this year’s football games, several tailgates were going on during the game. These tailgates were hosted by Assistant Principal Peter Restos and Basketball Coach Anthony Lawerence. Both are heavily involved in the different activities the ALMA group does.

This first tailgate took place on Aug. 23, which was also the first home game of the season. The idea of a tailgate was great because it allowed for an enhancement of school spirit. The tailgate consisted of grilling, music, and face paint. Overall, the tailgate was great and I’m excited for all the games of the season because of it.

The tailgate started at 5 and went until the game started, it was also held on the end of left field which kept us out of the way while still giving us a good view of the game. The music selection at Friday’s tailgate was also amazing, though every song couldn’t be played, they kept a good rotation of school-appropriate but enjoyable music.
During the tailgate, there was a station for face paint with various pattern choices. There were many different colors which allowed for everyone to express themselves.

This was the first tailgate for the season so not many people showed up because most didn’t know about it. This can seen through the only ten people that showed up. But the tailgate was still a good experience with many more to come. Lawrence operated the grill which had hotdogs and toasted buns. The food was good and excellent which made the school event a true tailgate experience.

In conclusion, the tailgate was very well executed but could’ve been more amazing if there were more people in attendance. However, if this first Tailgating event is anything to go off of, the future of these events is looking very bright.
