Lakewood High School hosts its annual freshman assembly on Aug 15, in the auditorium to welcome the freshman class of 2028. During the assembly topics such as safety, new policies, dress code, attendance, sports and clubs, and freshman sponsors.

One of the most important topics of the assembly was the new cellphone and headphone policy. This policy refrains students from using cell phones in classrooms, however, lets students use them in the passing time of the school day.

Not only that, safety and security were highlighted as students watched the Safety Starts with Me video made by Pinellas County Schools. In addition, students were given resources such as Say Something and FortifyFL if they ever need to report an issue.

As we welcome the freshman into a new environment it is important to get them familiar with faculty and staff that will help them along their high school journey. Important references displayed were assistant principals, guidance counselors, and MTSS coaches.

A good way for freshman to get involved and meet new people is by becoming a freshman class officer. Elections will be held at the end of the month and the sponsors include Lakewood teachers Syniah Snell and Arielle Snead.

If that may not be what you are looking for do not worry. If you go onto the Lakewood High School Website you can fill out a sports and club interest form for fall, winter, spring, and even year-round sports and clubs.

As high school comes with more responsibilities it is important to come to school. Not only does it help you learn but helps you exempt yourself from exams at the end of the semester if you have less than five absences. Be sure to have fun and come to class!
