At Lakewood High School there are new mural paintings around the school and new furniture for the school. The new principal Connisheia Garcia decided that this year she would make Lakewood High school a school where kids would want to come to learn and “VIBE” in school.
Garcia has also started a new saying around the school called “lets VIBE” which stands for Values, Intentional, Be present and Excellence. Students around the school have been loving the new paintings and furniture for the school.
“This is my first year here and I didn’t expect the school to look this nice,” Freshmen Alyssa Morrison said. “Throughout my freshmen to senior year I wouldn’t have thought the school would change this much,” Senior Adrian Lovett said.
In my opinion I think that the new paintings and furniture and new saying is a good way to get students to come to school and want to learn and graduate. Around the school I’ve seen multiple students take pictures in front of the new school paintings during lunch and after school, I think they seem to love the new looks at Hollywood High.
“The new sayings around the school and the new look at Lakewood gets me in the school spirit to come to school,” Junior Kendall Francis said. Principal Garcia has also started a new system in school for students called “PBIS Points”.
PBIS Points is something for students to earn while in school to use at the Spartan café during lunch, a couple examples of way students can earn PBIS Points while in school is coming to school on time, good behavior and following the VIBE saying around school.
“I really like the new PBIS Points system that Mrs. Garcia came up with, it pushes me to want to do more in class to earn PBIS Points,” Sophomore Kristopher Morris said.
