In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Lakewood high school student body and staff are recommended to wear pink in honor of those with this disease on October 29. This event is being organized by the president of the Student Government Association senior Jonyeisha Thomas, said principal Erin Savage.

Savage oversees announcing this event over the intercom. While this whole month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, this is the only event Lakewood is doing. There’s a possibility a Mammogram Bus – much like the annual blood buses – will be coming to the school this year to encourage getting breast cancer scanning, however, as of now there is no set date.

“Anytime I can bring awareness to issues with society I will gladly do so,” Savage said.
